On November 1 at around 9:34 A.M. (KST), BLACKPINK’s music video for “BOOMBAYAH” amassed 1.3 billion views on YouTube. This is the first K-pop debut music video in history to achieve the milestone.

YG Entertainment announced on November 1 that BLACKPINK’s music video for “BOOMBAYAH,” released in August 2016, surpassed 1.3 billion views on YouTube. It has been 146 days since it amassed 1.2 billion views.

YG Entertainment stated that even though it has been four years since the music video was released, it has been showing a stable upward trend. After “DDU-DU DDU-DU” and “Kill This Love,” this is BLACKPINK’s third music video to gain over 1.3 billion views.

“BOOMBAYAH” is one of BLACKPINK’s double title songs from the single “SQUARE ONE.” It has an addictive chorus and a drum beat that makes the listeners move to the beat.

BLACKPINK is recently the only K-pop artist to reach the record with three different music videos.

BLACKPINK released “BOOMBAYAH” music video on August 8, 2016 at 8 PM (KST) – meaning it took the song five years, two months, and 23 days to achieve the 1.3 billion feat.

As it remains popular, “BOOMBAYAH” boasts unbeatable enthusiasm from music listeners as it just surpassed 300 million streams on the world’s largest music platform, Spotify.

As of press time, BLACKPINK’s MVs have a total of 32 billion views. The quartet is expanding their global influence by giving off a powerful influence on YouTube whenever a new song is released even though it is a group or solo activity.

Apart from that, BLACKPINK’s YouTube subscribers are now more than 68.9 million, ranking first on the social media platform.

Also on November 1, BLACKPINK member Lisa’s exclusive performance video for “Money” gained 200 million YouTube views. It took the video only 38 days for it to achieve the milestone, and making it the fastest K-pop choreography video to do so.
