2021 AAA Update: ITZY and EVERGLOW Confirmed to Attend This Year’s Ceremony

ITZY and EVERGLOW have been added to the “2021 Asia Artist Awards” lineup of attendees!

On Nov. 4, it was announced that ITZY and EVERGLOW have both confirmed their attendance at the upcoming awards ceremony that will be held on Dec. 2.

The two K-pop girl groups will also present outstanding performances for the fans during the 2021 AAA.

From their debut in February 2019, ITZY succeeded in achieving five consecutive hits: “DALLA DALLA,” “ICY,” “WANNABE,” “Not Shy” and “Mafia in the Morning,” establishing themselves as one of the leaders in the fourth-generation of K-pop.

In September of this year, ITZY released their first full album “CRAZY IN LOVE,” which attained a splendid feat of debuting at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 chart. Not to mention, this album is the group’s first work to spend two weeks on the chat.

The album’s title song “LOCO” was also well-received; it landed on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart, Global 200, and Global Excl. US, dated Oct. 9. The track even earned the JYP girl group three more music show trophies.

Regarding their previous award at Asia Artist Awards, ITZY has already taken home three prizes: “Rookie of the Year” (2019), “Hot Issue Award” (2020) and “Choice Award” (2020).

For the 2021 AAA, the JYP girl group is nominated in the “Popularity Award – Idol Group (Female).” They currently sit at No. 6 with more than 133,000 votes.

Meanwhile, EVERGLOW also obtained success with their latest single album “Last Melody,” which features the title song “First.”

In the first week of their comeback, the six-member girl group received their second music show trophy since their debut on “The Show” with “First.”

Moreover, the music video for EVERGLOW’s “First” reached No. 1 on YouTube’s worldwide daily chart of trending music videos.

Over on Billboard, “First” debuted on the World Digital Song Sales chart at No. 5, together with the B-side songs “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” and “Please Please” at Nos. 20 and 21 respectively.

While EVERGLOW has not won at Asia Artist Awards, they have been nominated in different categories in the past years, such as “Popularity Award – Singer” (2019), “StarNews Popularity Award – Female Group” (2019), and “AAA x Choeaedol Popularity Award – Female” (2020).

Alongside ITZY, the sextet is also one of the nominees for the 2021 AAA’s “Popularity Award – Idol Group (Female), and they are at No. 8 with over 73,000 votes as of writing.

In other news, ITZY’s latest title track “LOCO” remains how now spent its second week on Billboard’s Weekly Hot Trending Songs Chart.

For the week ending on Nov. 6, “LOCO” stayed strong at No. 14. It is one of the only three songs by a fourth-generation K-pop group on the chart; the others are aespa’s “Savage” (No. 6) and ENHYPEN’s “Tamed-Dashed” (No. 8).

Meanwhile, ITZY’s “LOCO” sits at No. 15 with over 215,000 Twitter mentions and No. 17 with over 21,000 mentions on the seven-day update and 24-hour issue of the Hot Trending Songs Chart respectively.
